APRIL HEATWAVE: Today is the fourth day in a row we made it into the 80's. We were just shy of a record on Tuesday. Some spots and Alabama will be flirting with a record this afternoon, Even the nights are very mild, more like mid to late May. Expect lower 60's for a low tonight. Changes are on the way.
SEVERE WEATHER THREAT TOMORROW: That powerful storm system which has caused so many problems in the Rockies and the nation's heartland is moving eastward and will affect Alabama with some strong thunderstorms. The band of showers and storms will move into the western counties by late morning and then slowly march eastward across the state exiting the state by about Midnight. Severe thunderstorms are certainly possible and are a good bet. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of the state in the severe weather risk zone. Every severe weather situation is different. We think the main action with this system will be along a squall line that moves from west to east particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. Damaging straight line winds and large hail are possible and we can't rule out some isolated tornadoes. It's not out of the question that a few discrete supercells thunderstorms could form in the warm moist air ahead of the squall line. These storms would be more likely to rotate and could produce isolated tornadoes. Be ready to react and make sure you have an adequate method of receiving watches and warnings tomorrow.
WSFA WEATHER APP: This would be a great day to download your free WSFA Weather App for your smart phone. You can watch live radar, get watches and warnings and also watch our Live newscasts and any LIVE wall to wall coverage would also be streamed on your phone or IPAD through the app. You can also have severe weather watches and warnings text to your phone. Text your name to 41212.
The Storm Prediction Center has also included an area, within their sligh risk outlook, where a better probability of severe weather exists tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening.
Here's a general severe weather timeline to help you plan your day.
