HURRICANE WARNING: As of the new 4:00 advisory, a Hurricane Warning is now in effect from Morgan City, LA. eastward to Destin, FL. , including the Alabama Gulf coast.
ISAAC NOW: Located 40 miles southwest of Key west, moving west northwest at 16, top winds still at 60 mph. Pressure now 992 mbs.
ISACC FORECAST: Landfall could occur sometime late Tuesday night, more likely Wednesday morning with the cone of uncertainty from Louisiana through southwest Alabama to the western Florida panhandle, as a strong category 2 hurricane. The rule of thumb is you prepare for one category higher, so we should prepare for a possible major category 3 hurricane. Remember the worst weather is to the northeast and east of the center.
MUCH UNCERTAINTY: This forecast is still subject to much revision. Computer models forecasts vary greatly from west Louisiana to the Florida panhandle, so the jury is still out on the future of Isaac. Will Isaac be picked up by an approaching trough, or will it be bypassed?
HIGH LEVEL INVEST MISSION: This afternoon's NOAA G-IV flight, gathering high level data around the enviroment of Isaac will be input to the evening model runs. Hopefully that will result in a sharper, more confident forecast on Isaac's future. Stay tuned!
ADVISORY: There will be an intermediate advisory at 7:00, but the next big update will come out around 10:00.
